My yoga journey started in Austin when I was a child. Yoga was part of the curriculum at my school and I loved it! While growing up, I always had yoga books, and a lot of weekend mornings, Mom would find me doing yoga before breakfast if I wasn’t sleeping the sleep of exhausted teenage years. It wasn’t till about 2007 when I found a studio I loved that I really established anything close to a regular practice. Between moving a lot and having a hard time finding a studio I loved again, I mostly practiced at home, attending workshops and classes whenever I could.
In 2017, after years of wanting to complete yoga teacher training, I made that goal a reality! I completed my 200-hour certification from Alpha Omega Yoga, a Registered Yoga Alliance school, taught by Sheri Cherokee, E-RYT 500. In 2019, I completed my prenatal yoga teacher training with Cheryl Johnson, E-RYT 200, PRYT, YACEP at OmBalance, a Registered Yoga Alliance school. She is not only a fellow doula but an Ayurvedic practitioner who really encouraged me to dive into the things that fascinate me and help me to serve others more deeply. In 2018, I completed doula training with BEST Doulas, and in 2019 started a mentorship with Cheryl Johnson for Ayurvedic care during pregnancy and postpartum.
I love all types of yoga but really enjoy teaching gentle yoga, yin, and Yoga Nidra classes. I find a lot of fulfillment working with seniors and people who have limited mobility. I incorporate a lot of things like resistance bands and weights into classes. Classes look less like a flow class and more like an exploration of how we move, and what we can do to make moving easier.
I have taught classes in gyms, homes, rec centers, at retreats, and outside with goats! Yoga can happen pretty much anywhere, for anyone!
Feel free to reach out with questions, I would love to talk with you about adding yoga into your life or event!
